Daily Talmud study with Rabbi Joshua Maroof.
Rabbi Maroof,Shouldn't a soup that does not retain the identity of vegetables in it lose its vegetable status?
The point of the Gemara is that when vegetables are stewed in water to create a broth, the broth is considered to have assumed the identity of the vegetables that gave it its flavor.
Why does it not lose its form?
